Biography:

Shaher Hamaideh received his Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) in 1992. Received his Master’s degree in General Nursing Education from University of Jordan (UJ) in 1996. He received his PhD in nursing  from University of Cincinnati, Oh, USA. He is working at the Hashemite university as a professor of mental health nursing and Dean of the college.

 

Abstract:

Background: Schizophrenia is a severe mental disability disorder that affects all life aspects including  physical health, life functioning, general well-being, and overall life skills, and resulted in a prominent impairment in life functioning. Purpose There are scarcity of data regarding life skills and disabilities among patients with schizophrenia in Jordan, therefore, this study was conducted to assess life skills and disabilities and its correlates among Jordanian patients with schizophrenia. Methods: A cross-sectional design was used to collect data by a convenience method from 250 inpatients with schizophrenia admitted to t mental health hospital in Jordan.  Data were collected by one of the researchers using a questionnaire that consisted of demographic variables, Life Skills Profile, Global Assessment of Functioning, and Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale. Results: Level of disability in life skills was 89.23. The highest disability was in social contact and in communication domains, and the lowest was in responsibility domain. There are differences in disability levels in regard to family history of psychiatric illness, marital and employment status, and number of previous hospitalizations

Chien-Jou got nursing professional license at the age of 22 years ,and has completed her bachelor’s degree and at the age of 45 years from E-DA University School of Nursing. I am the director of post anesthesia care unitDepartment of Anesthesiology. I engaging in nursing care and management, quality monitoring and improvement in the hospital and department, as well as education, assisting research tasks, etc. (2004-present). And Nursing Clinical care (1988-2001).

Abstract:

Background:Postdural puncture headache (PDPH) is a relatively uncommon but important anesthesia-related complication due to leakage of cerebrospinal fluid after spinal anesthesia. The overall reported incidence of PDPH varies from 0.1 to 36%. Although it usually resolves spontaneously after bed resting, PDPH might result in prolonged hospital stay secondary to intractable headache or requires additional intervention such as autologous blood patch. Bed rest for up to 8 hours after spinal anesthesia is a common clinical practice in Taiwan to prevent the development of PDPH.

Title: Applying Flipped Classroom in Team-based Learning Approach for College Nursing Education- an Pilot Study

Biography:

Mei-Chun Lin has completed her PhD at the age of 31 years from Edinburgh Napier University in Scotland, UK. She was a director of nursing department in Cardinal Tien Junior College of Healthcare and Management-Taipei, Taiwan. Her clinical research field is in dementia care and caregiver’s caring experience. She has also interested in teaching and learning strategies in the nursing education.

Abstract:

Team-based learning is a dialectics learning strategy involving the application of adult learning theory and the cooperative learning approach. The core principle of the flipped classroom is that responsibility for learning returns to the students, the role of teachers changing from that of the leader to that of provider. However, the application of the flipped classroom in the team-based learning method in nursing education literature is insufficient, and there is a lack of clarity as to the process of implementation process students’ learning outcomes.

Title: Breastfeeding Practices and Social Support among Mothers in District V, Manila

Biography:

Jade Louise L. Vibieda came from Modesto, California and graduated college from the premier state university of University of the Philippines College of Nursing in Manila, Philippines. She is in multiple non-profit and volunteer organizations throughout college and participated in various healthcare conferences. She is currently studying for the National Council Licensure Exam and Philippine Nursing Licensure Exam.

Abstract:

In the Philippines, exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) remains stagnant with only half of all the neonates being exclusively breastfed (Philippine Statistics Authority, 2013). This research aims to: (1) describe current breastfeeding practices of mothers with young infants; (2) determine knowledge of mothers on breastfeeding; (3) determine the level of social support that mothers receive; (4) determine factors affecting current practice in terms of breastfeeding knowledge and social support; (5) determine factors affecting intention to continue breastfeeding in terms of current practice and social support.

Abstract:

Objective:To explore the real life and needs of the primary home caregivers of stroke survivors.

Methods: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 13 primary home caregivers of stroke survivors through purposeful sampling. Data were analyzed by Colaizzi phenomenological procedure.

Results: Key needs identified by caregivers of stroke survivors in this study centered on four main themes: (1) adequacy of information; (2) accessing appropriate skills training; (3) family and social support;(4) taking care of oneself.

She has got her master degree from Zhejiang University. She has published 4 papers in reputed journals and the corresponding author, is the director in nursing of a tertiary maternity hospital and the vice-chairwoman of gynecological nursing committee in China. She has published more than 20 papers in reputed journals and has been an editorial board member of several reputed magazines.

Abstract:

Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is common and is strongly related to pregnancy and childbirth. Pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT) is recommended as the first line conservative treatment for SUI. However, there is no consensus on how PFMT should be best performed. The study aims to evaluate the effects of mobile app-based PFMT for primigravid women with SUI in comparison to conventional PFMT. Participants were recruited in the obstetric clinic of a tertiary maternity hospital in Hangzhou, a provincial capital in eastern China, from January to April 2018.
