Occupational Health Nursing

Occupational Health Nurses role as case managers has grown as they now assist with the coordination and management of work-related and non-work related injuries and illness, which includes group health, worker's compensation and Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) as well as short/long term disability. Occupational health nurses are in charge of safeguarding public health in the workplace setting. The occupational health nurse role is varied and includes: identifying and preventing work related health problems. promotion of healthy living and working conditions.The role of Basic Occupational Health Services in first aid and emergency preparedness: Providing first aid services at the workplace when appropriate. Introducing and training first aid practices to workers and supervisors. Maintaining and periodically inspecting the first aid readiness and facilities.
